NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sure I’m going to diet off 20 kgs, sign up to Curves every day, only shop with my most critical girlfriend and never again buy an outfit that I personally don’t think I look great in.

And pigs will fly.

So I thought I’d limit myself to five good things and five bad ones. That’s one for each finger. If I manage these for a year I’ll be over the moon.

This year I promise myself I will…

1 Wear siren red lipstick. Everyone in London had bright red lips this Christmas.

2 When I’ve dressed, I will look at myself in a full-length mirror – and something off.

3 Buy local. Having walked the fashion ways of Paris and London I know we can do better. But please, local designers, let’s have everyday wear as well as bling gear.

4 Get organised. I’m going to colour-coordinate my wardrobe so that skirts and shirts go together and I can find that elusive T shirt immediately.

5 Book a weekly beauty treat.

And five things I’m never going to do again:

1 Buy clothing without considering the hidden cost. How much was the person who made a $5 T shirt paid?

2 Never keep things I can’t get into, tucking them away in the back of my closet with the idea that one day I really will lose those five kgs.

3 Wear shoes I can’t walk in. They may look great on my feet – but not on my expression as I squint in agony at my squeezed toes and stretched calves

4 Tell a friend she looks fabulous when she doesn’t. I’d hate it if she persuaded me to buy something that will go straight into recycling

5 Go to bed without taking off my make-up. That morning-after Coco the Clown look is awful—for me, for my partner.
